President’s report

The Mass History Alliance held elections in late July, We have a brand-spanking new board, all ready to start building a strong and resilient organization. Check out the minutes of the annual meeting for lots of detail.

We’ve had our first board meetings and have doled out assignments.  We’re looking for people to join the efforts and the committees. Sign up for those! By early October, we’ll have some plans ready to roll.

  • Pleun Bouricius, Plainfield Historical Society, President. I am chair of the Conference Committee and (for now) webmaster. We are inviting new organizations/people to step up in organizing the conference.
  • Mike Potaski, Uxbridge Historical Society, Vice-President. Spearheads the development of regional groups, particularly in Central Mass, and one other region tbd. Mike is looking for other people interested in supporting and increasing regional collaboration.
  • Earl Taylor, Dorchester Historical Society, Treasurer. Earl is chair of the Finance and Strategic Development Committee. He challenges all member organizations to support the Alliance so we can do robust work.
  • Jon Green, Stonehill College, Clerk. Jon chairs the Communications Committee with Margo Shea. In particular, he manages our listservs, pr-, and membership lists.  He’s looking for a co-administrator to help reach across the state to as man historical organizations and their people as possible.
  • Bob Marchetta (Northborough Historical Society), Director.  Bob co-manages our advocacy efforts. He and Eric Peterson are working on developing strong advocacy programs to help lift up organizations and the field as a whole.
  • Eric Peterson, Director. Eric co-manages our advocacy efforts with Bob.
  • Margo Shea, Salem State College, Director. Margo co-chairs the communications committee with Jon Green. Margo manages our platforms and their content: the blog (Publick Occurrences), outreach on the listserv., statewide outreach content, facebook. She has engaged our new social media intern, Dani Carney. Welcome, Dani!
