The Conference

The annual Massachusetts History Conference, held in June each year, is a service conference that supports everyone involved in local and public history on Massachusetts. The conference features panel discussions and workshops on topics of interest to small museums and other historical organizations and people who work with them.

The 2024 Mass History Conference: History is for Everyone, will be held on June 3, 2024 in Devens, MA! Click the button on the right for more details, and sign up for our emails to be the first to hear when registration goes live.

Participate in the conference

Anyone is welcome to participate, whether by presenting or attending. Most participants are volunteers and staff members of public history organizations, small museums, and other historical organizations; consultants and interns; and local history scholars. Although the programming is geared toward supporting historical organizations in Massachusetts, members of the general public may also attend. We do not require organizational affiliation.

The Mass History alliance sees the conference as a crucial part of the fabric of the Massachusetts history community, a moment for disparate organizations to learn and think about their work in preserving and interpreting Massachusetts history. We organize the conference with our partner Mass Humanities, The State historical Records Advisory Board, the University of Massachusetts Amherst Program in Public History and the University of Massachusetts Boston Public History and Archives Tracks and Joseph P. Healey Library.
