Melissa M. Cybulski

Melissa M. Cybulski is vice-president of the Longmeadow Historical Society, where she uses their extensive archives to find inspiration for the group’s weekly History Notes series. She works to bring forward the hidden voices of Longmeadow’s past, including a multi-year project uncovering the names and stories of people enslaved in the community. Recently, she completed a manuscript of a book for young readers, “Appleseeds: A Boy Named Johnny Chapman,” that imagines what life was like in Longmeadow in 1783 as the boy who would grow up to be the legend, Johnny Appleseed. Melissa also works as a guide at the Emily Dickinson Museum in Amherst, MA, sharing the true story of the poet’s life lived in full color.
