Hartman Deetz is the owner and founder of Ockway Bay Wampum. He has been active in environmental and cultural stewardship for over 20 years, based on his spiritual foundation in Native traditions that value the earth as a living being. Hartman has participated in ceremonies since the age of 12 and joined in Native ceremonies across the Americas over the past 30 years. He was a 2021 Cape Cod Modern House artist retreat resident and 2022 Massachusetts Cultural Council “traditional arts” fellow.
