2023 Mass History Conference
Doing a Lot with a Little: The Future of Online Programming
11:15am – 12:30pm, June 5, 2022
What’s in store for the future of virtual programs? Between Zoom, VR, virtual exhibits, and a wide array of rapidly changing technologies, it can be hard to keep track of the best ways to engage audiences online. Alison Horrocks and Mark Mello from Blackstone River Valley National Historical Park have run a range of virtual programs over the past three years. In this session, they will discuss the best practices for virtual programming with organizers of the Mass History Alliance, which has hosted the virtual Conversations on the Commons, an online platform to facilitate networking and community in the public history field. Together, the session will address the panelists’ experience and encourage discussion for working especially with a small staff or tight budget.Â
