An Archival “Roadmap” For Your Institution: The Roving Archivist Program at Your Service
1:30pm – 2:45pm, June 5, 2023
Could your institution benefit from feedback on how your archival collections are currently organized, accessed, and preserved? Are you wondering about best practices for managing an archive? Do you feel overwhelmed and under-resourced? Would you like help setting priorities among the many collections tasks you want to accomplish? The Massachusetts State Historical Records Advisory Board (MA-SHRAB) Program offers ‘Strategic Assessments and Program Reviews’ and other services to support archival management. To date, 135 cultural-heritage repositories across the Commonwealth have received strategic assessments. Scores more have benefitted from on-site training; policy review; regrants for purchasing archival supplies; and archival field fellowships. Join Roving Archivists Sarah-Jane Poindexter and Tom Doyle for an informative session about the Roving Archivist program. Learn from two participating organizations–Peak House Heritage Center and the Wayland Free Public Library—about how this program benefits small historical organizations in Massachusetts and can also assist your own institution.
